It was supposed to be a short train ride.
In 1999 a Belarusian and his daughter, who was 4 years old at the time, took the train. When the man fell asleep, his little daughter disappeared without a trace.
Minsk/Belarus: In 1999 the then four-year-old Yulia Gorina disappeared without a trace.
She was on the train with her dad. Her father, Viktor Moiseenko, fall asleep on the route between the two Belarusian cities of Minsk and Asipovichy.
To this day it is unclear how this could have happened. It is suspected that little Yulia was kidnapped.
Disappeared as a 4-year-old in Russia
Media report that Yulia could only remember that she was taken by a couple and sat in the same train with them for a very long time.
The authorities who found the little girl searched in vain for her parents. Meanwhile, the Belarusian authorities and Yulia’s parents also searched for her daughter. Without finding a clue to her whereabouts.
“For days we took every train between Minsk and Asipovichy, asked passengers if they’d seen Yulia, searched shops and abandoned buildings.”
That’s what the mother of the missing explained to the Daily Mirror:
Woman is reunited with her parents 20 later. Yulia Gorina, 24 vanished while traveling with her father on a commuter train in Belarus in 1999. She appeared 500km away, across border in Russia & raised as an orphan. https://t.co/hhc4d6hbyQ

Missing daughter reappears after 20 years
Since the parents of the little girl were no longer expected to be found in Russia, Yulia was taken to a children’s home and then found an adoptive family.
In their homeland, the shock was enormous, but so was the distrust. Her parents had to defend themselves for years against the fact that they had killed the girl.
It wasn’t until 2017 that they both had to take a lie detector test.
Yulia knew that her parents were looking for her and she did the same. For 20 years without success, then she told her boyfriend about her search.
He came across reports on the Internet from 1999, when a girl disappeared in Belarus.
“I started reading the reports, and when I realized that so many facts come together, I started crying.”says Yulia.
A missing persons report allowed them to find out the names of the parents.
Now tearful reunion happened in Belarus.
Yulia’s papa asked for forgiveness from 24 year old daughter again and again.
“Twenty years is like a whole life, but we never gave up hoping – and now we’ve found each other.”, narrated Yulias Mama.
A DNA test confirmed what all participants already knew before, when they first met again: Yulia found her biological parents again.
What an incredible story that fortunately ended with a happy ending.
